Or the phone automatically cuts off power supply when fully charged ?

Yes bro overnight charging reduce battery life. If you want to protect your battery then go to your phone setting>Battery and Device care> Battery>more battery setting>Protect battery. after that your phone automatically cuts off power supply when it maximum 85% charge.

Below 20 and above 85 puts s lot of stress on battery which is bad for battery health in long run.

This is why companies like Samsung apple have added a feature to stop battery being full charged.

Yes this feature was added after One UI 4.0 so you have to wait for that.
Till you get that feature try to remove your phone from charger when it's around 85%.
