Yes, M31 will get android 12 because Samsung promised only 2 major os updates for its Midrange devices. However, it will be its last major OS update. It will probabaly get secuirty patch for 2 more years.

That is only for flagships and some selected premium A series models.......

Midrange devices will still get 2 major OS updates.

I am using A80 which is a premium A series phone
But no 3 year update in it as per now.

As of now Android 12 is the last major OS update for M31
But M31 will definitely get One UI 4.5(based on Android 12 only) as it is a popular m series device.
