Samsung Galaxy M31 is not supporting otg. I have used many otg but none supported.

you need to buy which mentioned your device model name or mentioned as supported all type c devices
please check in description when you buy

Have you reset you device earlier or it is working right after its delivery?

right after delivery .. I have used the same cable came with the charger to connect my seagate 256 GB external SSD .. Then I have checked with a type c memory card adapter . this also worked ..

I have gone throgh all description and it says that it supports type c otg. If it supports specific type c otg, it should be mentioned in the description. If this issue is not fixed within a week, I will share this issue to media for not buying this model

share about not having carrier aggregation as well.. that is one big setback in m series phone

use any Generic
Type C OTG Cable Adapter, USB to Type-C Connector Cable Compatible with All C Type Device. This is available at Amazon and cost is Rs.189/-.I have solved my problem this way without going through painful procedures advised by Samsung team.

try any GenericType C OTG Cable Adapter, USB to Type-C Connector Cable Compatible with All C Type Device. This is a connecting wire with a female usb jack at one end and a male tyce usb jack at the other end. Do not try any dongle type device.
